Dip, Snus, Chew or Cope -name it how you like to, but I bet that everyone who served came into content with the swedish chewing tobacco, be it loose or pouch incarnations. Granted, dipping isnt a good habbit, but it has many advantages over smoking like the missing glow of a cigarette that wont give away your position at night, the missing smell and of course the fact that it doesnt directly affect your lungs.
Black Trident, Austrian manufacturer of quality Kydex products seems to know which an importance dip has to the performance of the modern warfighter and came up with their very own kydex snus carrier. This Kydex solution not only retains your dip during the most demanding situations, but also allows easy and rapid access under all circumstances.
Black Tridents Snus Holster is basically a two piece retention clamp, that has the shape of a classic, european snus tin. It comes in several tactical colours and features the Black Trident logo – which is surprisingly a trident; represented on the front. To perform a speed reload you simply gotta push the tin upwards by pushing your finger through the opening you find on the kydex bodies bottom.
After you are done with your speed reload you can simply reinsert the tin one handed while continuing the fight. This takes a little bit of practice as you have to push the protruding upper lip of the carrier to the outside using the tin. After some repetitions you are used to it and you are good to go. Your gear is always as good as your training is.
Black Trident uses thick kydex for the Snus carriers shell and you wont find any rough corners on the product. The footprint is comparable to a .223 mag pouch as the wings of the pouch take up like 25% space.
Jokes aside, the construction is a high quality and I have seen really essential products by other kydex manufacturers that couldnt hold up to the quality that Black Trident displays on this product which is more of a gimmick.
As with any good kydex holster, Black Trident also allows the end user of the Snus Holster to adjust the retention. This can be done by loosening or tightening four phillips screws. Again, nothing new here if you ever used a kydex holster.
As said before, the holster is made for European Snus cans, but it will also hold your cope if you really tighten the retention, given you can live with the fact that the can will sit a bit deeper than usual.
So Black Trident managed to create multi caliber solution here, which will improve your efficiency even during multinational operations, which is a force multiplier. You will also experience good retention and will no longer have to endure the pain of hook velcro scrathing you fingernails while searching for your dip can in your Crye pockets.
Black Trident didnt try to reinvent the wheel with the mounting method chosen for the Snus Holster. Simple 50mm Belt loops make sure that this pouch will even fit a riggers belt. The only downside may be that you need to remove most of the gear from your belt when you want to remove the Snus Holster from your belt, as it uses traditional, closed loops. But seriously, who wants to remove a snus pouch from his setup?!
Besides its war changing properties the Black Trident Snus Holster is of course, a great giveaway for everyone who is into tactical stuff and also likes to dip. I personally look at it as a nice gimmick that will automatically make you the most badass operator in every tactical class or deployment.
Jokes aside, its almost christmas and I bet you can think of at least one persion that could really enjoy the Snus Holster.
Well made and partially “useful” gimmick that will suddently turn you into a barrell chested, dip chewing freedom fighter.
